As the head of a city agency, Community Board 8, for three years, Dan fostered a collaborative environment for Board members and implemented changes that continue to this day. He supervised City employees and planned the Board’s annual budget. He represented the Board in borough-wide and citywide meetings and was on call for emergencies or incidents in the district.
Over his more than 11 years on the Community Board, Dan has worked with city agencies, elected officials, community groups, institutions, public utilities, residents, and other community stakeholders on important issues and initiatives in our area. In all of his leadership roles on the Community Board, Dan makes it a priority to reach the four corners of the District, make the public body more transparent in its operations, and to promote ongoing discussions of important issues to inform and engage the public.
Dan served on the Croton Filtration Monitoring Committee, a statutorily created body comprised of the Bronx Borough President, 11th District Council Member, DEP, the NYC Parks Department and the Chairs of Community Boards 7, 8 and 12. Dan chaired the CFMC for one year and played an integral role in getting two weekends of public access to the grounds of Jerome Park Reservoir.
Aside from government, Dan is a community leader in many other ways and commonly known as a go-to person for those who need assistance with a problem.
